What is HP Soulmates Fest?
HP Soulmates is an anonymous prompt-based fest that celebrates soulmates and soul bonds of all forms (romantic? platonic? mortal enemies?) We ran for the first time in 2022 and we’re so excited to be back for more soulmates-inspired fics, art, and podfics!
When is it?
Prompting: May 15-30, 2023
Claiming: June 3 - August 1
Submissions due: August 15
Posting: starts September 4

We’ll keep everyone updated here on our tumblr! Prompting will be done on Airtable and works will be submitted on AO3 and promoted here on the tumblr starting in September.
We’re also adding a fest Discord server this year! The invite link will be posted in a few days, so get hyped and ready to squee! 💞

I can’t believe it’s already December!!! Where did this year go?
We have so many amazing prompts for you all to choose from! So grab the one you love most as soon as possible before it’s claimed by someone else!
REMEMBER!! You can only claim one prompt until you have fully submitted the creative work for said prompt. All characters in the throuple must be 17+ and the pairing MUST have at least ONE of the characters as part human or humanoid sentient magical creature. And to self claim, check the prompt list that your idea hasn’t been created as a prompt yet, then simply fill in the form and select self claim and fill in the info accordingly!
Feel free to check out the rules below while we anxiously await the start of prompting next month. There will be more info to come as we move through the events (prompting, claiming, etc.), so keep an eye out for those posts as well!
Rules/Guidelines

Obviously, this fest is all about that Weasel and Ferret duo, Ron and Draco, so every prompt and piece submitted must feature them as the main romantic and/or sexual pairing.
All participants must be over the age of 18.
Prompts can be claimed from the list of those which were submitted, or you can opt to use your own prompt. Prompts can be claimed once for fic and once for art. You do not have to enter a prompt in order to claim one, and vice versa.
Art needs to show a comparable amount of work and be of a decent standard. Everything must be betaed, proof-read, checked, and/or edited. There is no minimum requirement for any medium you choose, so long as the work you submit is in a finished and polished state.
If you don’t have a beta, I always recommend asking in any of the various fanfic writers’ groups out there! In keeping with the stress free style of this fest, your beta is not necessarily required to be someone official in fandom; if you’d be more comfortable having a friend or family member look everything over, you are welcome to have them do so!
Once you have submitted your piece, feel free to select another one! (And I definitely encourage this, as I’d love nothing more than to see a slew of Ron/Draco goodies in my inbox! ;D)
Posting will be anonymous, so please don’t give the game away by posting anywhere else, or replying to comments, or hinting on your socials until after reveals. Also, because this is an anonymous fest, the piece you submit must be a complete, stand-alone work and can’t be based on any of your other works, prequels, sequels, etc.
All submissions will be hosted on AO3, at the Ron/Draco Fest collection. Feel free to check it out, but please only post your submission there yourself if you are 100% sure you know how. One mistake can make the difference between your fic being posted before its time, so if you find yourself unsure of how to do this in any way, please feel free to send everything to the mod email, and I will take care of it. More info will be coming as we get closer to submissions being due on how to submit your work - either to the collection, or to the mod.
In order to properly submit your finished work for this fest, you will be required to add the mod account on AO3 as a co-creator. The mod account is rdfestmod. A more detailed explanation for why this will now be a strict rule going forward in any and all fests I run can be found on my announcement for Ron/Draco Fest 2021. Last but not least, this is a totally stress free fest! Need an extension? No problem, send me an email, and we’ll work something out! Need to drop out? This exchange is open to anyone aged 18+!
As this is a gift exchange, you will make a gift for someone and receive at least 2 gifts in return.
This exchange is focused on HP rare pairs. That means any HP ship that is not a common ship (common ships: Drarry, Wolfstar, Dramione, Jily, Snarry, Hinny).
We highly encourage being open to trying new ships for this exchange. It will make matching easier, and you never know what amazing ships you may discover!
We follow the Three Laws of Fandom: SALS, DLDR, and YKINMKATO. No ship-bashing, hate speech, or kink shaming will be tolerated. We are open to all types of ships, genres, and content (including dark and/or triggering content) as long as it is tagged accordingly.

Sign-ups are open Sep 10-Sep 30 through Google Forms (link will be provided)
The form will ask you to list: characters and rare pairs you love, what rating(s) you prefer, your favorite tropes/themes/kinks, what type of gift(s) you would like to make, some potential prompt ideas, squicks/triggers/DNWs.
The sign-up form will have separate sections for preferences on receiving and giving gifts. Both sections are required.
The mods will match you with another participant based on favorite ships and interests.

You will have approximately 2 months to work on gifts starting Oct 5.
All HP rare pair-themed gifts are accepted! That includes: fics, ficlets, drabbles, craft gifts, art works, gif sets, story banners, moodboards, photo manips, vids, podfics, podfic cover art, meta, icons, poems, recipes, playlists, rec lists — basically, any type of fanwork you can think of!
Although only one gift is required, if at all possible, please we are begging you create more than one gift.
Gifts should be uploaded to the H.S.S. Rare Pairs 2022 AO3 Collection (link to come) or emailed directly to hprarepairsdiscord@gmail.com. More info coming soon!
Gifts are due Nov 25! If you are unable to finish your gift in time, please let us know ASAP, so we can find a pinch-hitter.

Gifts will be delivered Dec 1-Dec 25 by Santa and his helpers (aka the very excited mods).
Creator Reveals will be on Dec 30. Until then, please refrain from discussing giftees, sharing prompts, or giving away details about your creation. We want gifts to remain a secret, hence the Secret Santa part.
After reveals, you are free to share, post, and squeal about your creation as much as you want!
